What happened:
At approximately 1:42 p.m. Thursday, Fayetteville Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a white 2025 Chevrolet Silverado and a gray 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis. The accident occurred when Mrs. Otis, driving a Mercury Grand Marquis, was exiting northbound I-295 and attempting to approach the on-ramp at Bragg Boulevard. The vehicles collided, and despite immediate medical attention, Mrs. Otis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the Silverado, 58-year-old Wilton Alan Nickerson of Stedman, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. His current condition has not been made public, and officials are still working to determine the circumstances of the crash.
