Long Branch, an 18-year-old, Christopher is hurting the tragic loss of Christopher White, an 18-year-old North Breanswick, who was badly shot dead along with a picturesque beach of Pear village in Long Branch last week. Officials of the office of Monmouth County Prosecutor confirmed their identity on Sunday, June 16, after the days of investigation and public concern over deadly violence which usually shattered the peace of the vibrant summer evening.

The deadly shooting took place on Wednesday, 12 June at around 8:58 pm, in a stirring area between the coastline and the boardwalk – a section of the beach equally for their restaurants, shops and sea views by locals and tourists. Officials of Long Branch Police Department responded to several 911 calls of reporting gunshots in the area around the Pear Village.

When the police reached the spot, they discovered Christopher White for the victim of a gun bullet. Emergency personnel provided assistance and rushed him to Monmouth Medical Center, where the deceased was later pronounced. No other injuries were reported.

The news of White’s death has sent shockwaves to both North Breanswick and a broad Monmouth County community. Friends, neighbors and classmates described him as a charismatic and operated young man with ambitions to make a career in art or digital media. Many condolences resorted to social media to express their heartbeat, recalled Christopher for their smile, kindness and passion for life.

“Christopher had such a bright future,” a family friend said during a vigilance held in his honor. “He was only 18 years old – he had just started living. No family should bury his child under these circumstances.”

In collaboration with the Long Branch Police and other law enforcement agencies, the office of the Monmouth County Prosecutor has started an investigation into a murder. Detectives are currently reviewing the monitoring footage from nearby businesses and interviewing witnesses in the hope of identifying the shooter or any person involved in the incident. The authorities have not yet announced any arrest or released information on the possible objective.

Meanwhile, the authorities are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of shooting or who may have captured videos or photos before or after the incident to contact Detective Brian Miglieorisi of Monmouth County Prosecutor or Long Branch Police Detective Nicholas Romano. Anonymous tips can also be presented through Monmouth County Crime Stoppers.

As the investigation continues, the White family is preparing to prepare their beloved son to rest. A Memorial Fund has been established to help in assisting funeral expenses and to honor Christopher’s memory through youth programs and anti-violence initiative.

This insensitive work of violence has once again highlighted community cooperation, youth outreach and immediate needs of ongoing efforts to prevent gun violence in New Jersey.
