Five people, including the suspect, have died after being stabbed outside a home in a violent and tragic incident on the peninsula near Gig Harbor, Washington. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the deaths on February 24, calling the incident a heartbreaking act of violence.

The attack happened around 8:41 a.m. local time after officers received a report of a violation of the no-contact order. Deputies were en route to serve orders when multiple witnesses reported a stabbing outside the residence. Upon arriving at the scene, a deputy encountered the male suspect and shots were fired. The suspect, along with three other individuals, were found dead at the scene. The fourth victim, who was taken by ambulance, later succumbed to his injuries, bringing the total number of deaths to five.

The names of the dead have not yet been released and the relationship between the victims is unclear. However, authorities confirmed that the stabbing was linked to a protection order that was initially issued to protect a mother who was allegedly threatened and abused by her son. Court documents indicate that the no-contact order was violated before the violent outburst, although it was revealed that the order had not been formally fulfilled by the time the attack occurred.

Pierce County Executive Ryan N. “The heartbreaking violence on the Key Peninsula today left five people dead, including the suspect who was shot by a responding deputy,” Mello said in a statement. He expressed his condolences to the affected families and thanked local law enforcement and fire officials for their efforts at the tragic scene.

A lone deputy, who arrived at the scene shortly after receiving a report of the stabbing, was involved in an exchange of gunfire, resulting in the death of the suspect. The incident has shocked both the community and the authorities and further investigation is underway. The relationship between the victims and the motive behind the attack are still under investigation.

The tragedy is a reminder of the potential dangers posed by unresolved domestic issues and the violence that can erupt if protection orders are violated. Authorities continue to process the details of the case in hopes of providing clarity and resolution for the victims’ families.
