Domestic violence charges against New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore have been dismissed after prosecutors cited insufficient evidence to pursue the case.

On March 9, 2026, Bristol County prosecutors announced in Attleboro District Court that the case was “not viable for prosecution.” The judge granted one day to file a motion to drop the case in response to a request from Deputy Bristol District Attorney Jennifer Sowa. According to the Associated Press, the woman who filed the complaint no longer lives in Massachusetts and did not want to travel out of state for the proceedings.

Barmore’s legal team responded with a statement from his attorney, David Meyer, expressing gratitude to the District Attorney’s office. “Mr. Barmore is grateful to the District Attorney’s Office for carefully evaluating the facts, reviewing the materials shared with him by his attorney, and acting in the interest of justice,” the mayor said.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on August 8, 2025, at Barmore’s home in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The complaint, filed on December 16, 2025, describes a domestic dispute between Barmore and his then-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child. The argument reportedly started over the air conditioning and escalated, with the woman claiming Barmore later grabbed her and threw her to the ground.

The alleged victim also accused Barmore of taking her phone during a conversation with her mother and later attempting to prevent her from leaving the house. She eventually left with her child after calling the car service organized by the Patriots.

The New England Patriots released a statement at the time of the incident, acknowledging their awareness of the situation and confirming that the NFL had been notified. The team said they would respect the legal process and cooperate with the league, choosing not to provide any further comment.

Despite the charges being dismissed, the case has attracted considerable public attention. The incident had previously shed light on Barmore in both his professional and personal life. Moving forward, Barmore is expected to focus on his career and personal matters while the case concludes legally.
