The community of Murfreesboro, Tennessee is in shock after the remains of 40-year-old Matthew Edward Madewell were identified, three days after he was last seen. His remains were found behind a strip mall in a wooded area near Murfreesboro Pike on October 10, 2025. Local authorities confirmed the identification on March 13, 2026, following a tip and DNA testing.
Madewell, who was reported missing in late 2024, is believed to have been living in the area of Trinity Lane at the time of his disappearance. Police also noted that he may have been working with a construction company building hotels in downtown Nashville. Despite efforts to locate him, his whereabouts remained unknown until the discovery of his remains.
