Lamar County, TX-Lamor County Sheriff Office (LCSO) announced the arrest and prosecution of 38-year-old Michael Clarke Syx, which marks a disturbing case of alleged child abuse in Northeast Texas after a month-long investigation of crimes against children.

According to a press release by the LCSO, the investigation was initiated in January 2025 by detectives of special offenses of the department, which specialized in handling sensitive cases such as exploitation, abuse and internet related crimes. The detectives began to look into Cyx after receiving a tip, indicating unfair communication with minors and suspected online activity.

During several months, investigators collected digital evidence and conducted several interviews. By April 2025, the detectives received arrest warrant for Syx, citing the growing evidence of the child’s grooming and the production of illegal materials associated with minors and their alleged involvement in possession.

The investigation concluded in May, and in June 2025, a Lammer County Grand Jury formally inspired Cyx on a series of serious allegations. This includes:

  • Sexual performance by a child under the age of 14 (production/direct/publicity)
  • Hair pornography attached to less than 100 images
  • Groan hair
  • Anthemism with a child by contact
  • Expels by exposure with a child (2 count)

These fees reflect a series of hunter behaviors, including future misconduct, child sexual misconduct material (CSAM) occupation and propagation facilities, and promote direct physical or visual acts of indecency.

Officials have not yet disclosed how many victims can join or the specific age of children or affected children, although at least one victim is confirmed to be under 14 years of age. Sheriff’s office emphasized that investigation requires extensive digital forensic analysis, possibly recovering online chats, images and other evidence from computer or mobile devices.

LCSO officials credited the unit of their special crimes for their careful efforts and said that they worked closely with the state and federal partners during the entire investigation. A spokesman for Sheriff’s office reiterated his department’s commitment to protect weak children in the community and to provide justice to criminals.

“We want to explain that children’s exploitation will not be tolerated,” said a statement by LCSO. “Our detectives tirelessly tried to the matter, and we thank them for their unwavering dedication.”

Cyx is currently in custody. Bond and punishment information was not available immediately. If convicted, he can withstand decades in jail, especially due to the severity of allegations associated with the production or promotion of child sexual abuse materials involving a child under 14 years of age.

The case remains active, and further allegations can be filed as the review of digital evidence continues. Investigators are encouraged anyone with additional information about Michael Clarke Cyx or other potential victims.

This arrest underlines important importance of internet security awareness for families and vigilant efforts of law enforcement to detect and interrupt online predators.

The Lamar County Sheriff Office is urging the parents to closely monitor their children’s online activity and report any suspicious behavior for local law enforcement. Internet safety and reporting suspected child abuse can be found on National Center for Missing and Explott
