It is deeply saddened that we declare the untimely passage of Gregory Crook McGire, a dedicated resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, who lost their lives after a two-marriage collision on 3 July 2025 on the New Bedford-Farehawen Bridge. At the age of only 41, the sudden departure of Gregory has left family, friends and their community in deep mourning.
Gregory was known for his vibrant energy, unwavering loyalty and liberal sentiment. A stable appearance in many people’s lives, he was always ready to lend one hand, share a laugh and offer support when it was most important. His love for his hometown was deep, and his relationship within the New Bedford community was woven through years of friendship, dedication and shared experiences.
The tragic accident that took the life of Gregory also left another person with serious injuries and motivated the reflection on the importance of road safety, especially on the coastal bridges with heavy travel. While the respondents worked rapidly and bravely, the loss of gragari makes a serious reminiscent of how delicate life can be.
Those who knew Gregory talks about a person who embraced life completely – whether it was a friend, fixing a car, or just existing for those who needed him. His memory will be on the hearts that he touched and left behind the legacy of kindness and authenticity.
