A student at Bethalham community Freedom High School is mourning the tragic and untimely loss of 17 -year -old David Negi, who died in a car accident on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The accident occurred before 1:30 pm at Bethleham Township near the Campus of Freedom High School and East Hills Middle School.
According to Bethalham Township Police Department, the accident included two vehicles and a group of teenagers. David Negi was behind the wheel when his vehicle collided with a standing car in the area.
Despite the efforts of the first respondents, David was declared dead on the spot. Officials have said that no other serious injuries were reported, and the investigation continues under the direction of the Northampton County Coroner’s office.
A heartbreaking news was confirmed on Sunday in a message from Bethalham Area School District (BASD), which described the incident as a “late night tragedy”, including Freedom High School students.
Out of honor for the family, the student’s name was initially stopped, but David has since been recognized and remembered by friends, classmates and teachers as a kind, bright and kind youth.
In response to the tragedy, the district announced that counselors and emotional assistant employees would be made available at Freedom High School starting on Monday. The school district shared in its statement, “On behalf of the BASD community, we provide our heartfelt sympathy to the family and the people affected by this tragic incident.”
David was known as a thoughtful and respectable young man with a calm force. He was deeply involved in his school community and had a detailed cycle of friends who have now been destroyed by his loss.
Teachers remember David as a dedicated student who worked hard and brought a quiet, stable energy to the classroom. His companions remember her for her hot smile, gentle nature and desire to help others.
In addition to his educational efforts, David was emotional about cars and often talked about making a career in motor vehicle engineering or technology. He was also actively involved in extra curricular activities including robotics and science clubs, where he was praised for his intelligence and curiosity.
His closest people say that David’s future was a bright future – a future that has now reduced by heart. Tributes to David, on social media, with classmates and community members sharing memories, photos and words of mourning, have started putting on social media.
A friend wrote, “He was the kind of person who welcomed everyone.” “It is difficult to imagine the school without him.” Bethalham Township Police Department is continuing its investigation in the accident and has asked to help the public in gathering information.
Anyone who may have seen the incident is encouraged to contact the Northampton County 911 Operations Center on 610-759-2200 or reach out to the explorer Great Cramemer on 610-814-6473.
As the community suffers, plans for memorial services or tribute have not yet been declared to honor David’s life. Meanwhile, Freedom High School and Greater Bethelham community are coming together to support each other, reflect the fragility of life, and recall a young man, who left a permanent impression on all of them.
David Negi’s life, though tragically brief, was filled with love, promise and calm strength of a soul that touched many. He will be remembered with deep affection and sorrow by those who were respected to know.
