The Lacros community is mourning the heart -wrenching loss of 21 -year -old Owen George, who died in an accident on Saturday, May 31, 2025. A dear member of the Silverpss organization, Owen’s sudden passing has led to a huge zero in the hearts of the team’s colleagues, coaches, friends and family.

Owen’s visit to Lacrose began with a Rockywue rage at an early age, where his talent, determination and passion for sports quickly became clear.

He was drafted Silvertips in 2020 and remained a loyal and proud member of the team throughout his junior career. His relationship for the team moved beyond the game – Owen brought energy, heat and leadership beyond the locker room.

Although a promising career opportunity stopped him from playing in his final season with Silvertips, Owen’s bond with the team never forgiven.

He often returned to show his support, participated in practices – once in cowboy boots – and shouting his former companions from the sideline. Their presence was always felt, and their commitment remained stable for silverpies and their peers.

Owen’s legacy is not only defined by their skills on the floor, but the kind of team partner and person he was. Many players and former coaches have welcomed new colleagues to share Owen’s stories, who take time to introduce them to everyone and make sure they feel at home.

His kindness, openness and leadership were naturally appreciated by all those who played with him. On Sunday, Silvertips honored Owen’s memory with a moment of silence before his game.

His jersey now replaces respect in the dressing room and will remain on the bench for the remaining part of the season – a tribute to a young man who matters a lot to the team and will never be forgotten.

Owen’s passing has led to a heavy wave of support and remembrance from the wider Lacros community. His family, navigating unimaginable grief, expressed deep praise as love and solidarity.

As a Silverpse representative shared, “They know a lot about much information that the Lacros community has shown in the last few days and it has actually been appreciated. The Lacros community is the best.”

Owen as team partners, coaches and friends mourn the disadvantage of George, they also celebrate the person he was a fiery rival, a dedicated friend and a kind leader. His influence on his surrounding life was deep, and his soul would continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing.

Owen will not only remember how he played the game, but how he lived – with heart, humility and deep spirit of the community. Their lights may be overcome very soon, but their memory will remain in the hearts of the Silvertips family and the entire lacros world forever.
