Australian entertainment industry and comprehensive community actress and filmmaker Claire McCain’s son is mourning the tragic loss of Atreu McCan, 13 -year -old Atreu McCain. Atrayu died of suicide on May 23, 2025, after months of serious bullying at South Sydney High School. His death has led to national conversation about school safety, mental health and systemic failures that can leave weak children without adequate protection.
Claire McCan, known for his work on the channel [V] And as the founder of the Sydney Women’s International Film Festival, has publicly shared her destruction. He revealed that between February and April 2025, Atrayu tolerated the tireless bullying, including a drowning and sexual harassment. Despite repeated reports in Claire’s school, New South Wales Education Department, and child services, no effective action was taken. Atreu was detected by the post-tractic stress disorder (PTSD), and her mother hoped that withdrawing her from school in April would help her recover. Sadly, the trauma had already taken a deep toll.
In a poignant tribute to his son’s attraction with cryogenics, Clay has launched one Goofandme Campaign to raise $ 195,000 to creatively preserve Atreyu’s body. He believes that it can provide future opportunity for revival, respecting Atrayu’s interest in the concept. The conservation process requires funds to cover transport, medical and legal costs and set up a trust in the name of Atrayu. By 26 May, the campaign had increased more than $ 2,700.
Claire has expressed the intention to support anti-bole initiatives, assist affected families and use any additional funds to take legal action against the institutions, which they believe that their son failed. He described Atrayu as a compassionate, creative and deep -loving boy, and is determined to respect his memory by advocating systemic changes.
New South Wales Education Department and State officials have increased their condolences and are providing assistance to students and employees affected by this tragedy. The incident underlines the immediate requirement of effective anti -rogue measures in schools and systemic accountability.
Atreyu’s death is a clear reminder of the destructive effect of bullying and the importance of active intervention. It asks for a collective effort to ensure that no other child is in silence and the school is a safe environment for all students.
