Philippi, W.V. The victim has been identified as 19 -year -old Dustin Nixon, a favorite member of the Clarksburg community, whose sudden and untimely passing has left family, friends and loved ones with shock and grief.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, June 29, 2025, when emergency employees were called at a popular destination Tygart Lake State Park in Barbor County, known for their beautiful beauty and entertaining water. According to initial reports, Nixon was enjoying the lake with a group of friends when he went under water and did not come again. Bystanders and nearby sailors immediately approached the authorities, reacting rapidly from local rescue teams.
The divers of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR) began a comprehensive discovery and recovery operation with local fire and emergency personnel. After several aggressive hours, Nixon’s body was recovered from the water of the togart lake. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dustin Nixon was just 19 years old – a young man who was a bright future ahead of him. Known for his hot smile, easy personality and generous heart, Dustin recently graduated from high school and was moving towards the next chapter of his life.
