ORONO, Maine – The disappearance of 19-year-old Chance Lauer is heartbreaking news for his family and the Orono community. After months of searching, Lauer’s body was found in a pond near an apartment complex, an area that was of interest to authorities in the weeks following her disappearance in January.

Chance, a resident of Orchard Trails Apartments, was last seen at his home before disappearing without a trace. His sudden absence left friends, family and the community devastated, unsure where he had gone or what had happened to him. Search efforts, which included local law enforcement and the Maine Warden Service, led to reports that his body had been found.

Upon recovery, the body was identified by the state medical examiner as that of Chance Lauer. At this time, police have said there is no suspicion of foul play, and the cause of her death is still under investigation.

The news has received an outpouring of support from the community, as many expressed grief over the loss of a young life and the uncertainty surrounding his family. “It’s a relief for the family to have closure, but the grief is still heavy,” said one local resident. “Chance was well-loved in Orono, and his family has always been a part of this close-knit community.”

Although the case has not revealed any criminal activity, the impact on Lauer’s loved ones is immeasurable. His family now faces the incredibly difficult task of grieving the loss of a son, brother and friend who had so much in common with them.

Moving forward, the Orono Police Department is focused on ensuring that all information related to the case is transparent. A police spokesperson said, “We encourage anyone with questions to get in touch.”

For now, those who knew Chance will hold on to his memories, cherishing the times they spent with him while also mourning the loss of a young life so soon. The community stands with his family, providing support during this painful time.
