The Madison community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of the community Deric Alan, a dedicated husband, the father, and a person who fought the battle of life with extraordinary courage and grace. Derik, 48, died earlier this week after a disastrous car accident on the north side of the city, affecting a grieving family and community deeply with his spirit and story.
Deric Alan’s life was defined by flexibility. Stage 4 pancreatic cancer was diagnosed five years ago, he faced a forecast that would seem challenging many people. Despite the severity of his illness, Deric never lost hope or his drive to live intentionally. He adopted overall treatment practices, studied alternative remedies, and demanded peace, sound treatment and nature through nature. When cancer forced him to quit his job in monona terrace, he reinforced himself as a Reiki practitioner, which was facing strength in the mind, body and soul.
On the morning of Monday, 27 May, Deric was crossing the intersection of Northport Drive and Kennedy Road, a route acquainted with his daily walk. That day, he was bringing food to one of his children and planning to travel to a nearby relative. However, when a vehicle collided with Deric, there was a tragedy, causing dead injuries. Despite emergency efforts, Deric was declared dead on Wednesday, 29 May, two days later.
His wife, Latoya Moss shared Deric not for his illness, but in a sudden accident during a routine walk. “We felt that his cancer was the fight we would be fighting,” he said. “This is not sad, unexpected loss.”
The accident not only killed Deric, but also shook his entire family and community who came to praise his calm power. Latoya described Deric’s sexual tantra, exposed his love for sound attention and his habit of taking peaceful walks required for his treatment journey. Even in pain, Derrics deliberately left the legacy of courage and compassion.
Despite the devastating news, Latya has chosen forgiveness on anger. Recognizing the impact on two families, he expressed mercy to the driver involved. “I send positive energy to the person,” he said, showing the grace and strength from the example of deeric.
The family is now facing a difficult process of treatment and seeking answers. Police investigation is going on in the accident, a complete report is expected in the coming weeks or months. Latoya has not yet been informed about the driver’s identity, but has focused on supporting his children and respecting the delegate.
Deric was a deeply involved father, who was committed to enhance his seven children with love and appearance. His youngest child is only four years old. His dedication to the family was unbreakable, even in front of his illness. Friends and neighbors remember him as a calm, kind man, whose effect progressed much further than his immediate circle.
The tragedy has introduced a call to advocate a secured pedestrian crossing from Latya and community members and improve traffic safety measures in Madison. He hopes that Deric’s death serves as a catalyst for changes to prevent future losses.
“Hopefully, on Monday the last time something used to happen,” Latoya said, emphasizing the need to protect families and pedestrians. The wave effect of the accident has touched two families deeply and serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of those who cross our streets.
Plans are going on for a memorial service, where the loved ones will gather to celebrate Deer’s life, his terrible love and his spiritual flexibility. Service will provide an opportunity to honor his memory and share the strength inspired by him.
Deric Alan’s story is one of bravery and love – a person who faced an aggressive disease with dignity and optimism, only to reduce his life from a cruel accident. His family and community now want to convert their grief into hope, advocating safe roads and strong support systems.
After Deric’s death, Madison is reminded of the importance of vigilance on our streets, respect for pedestrians and the power of community compassion. Their legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him and who hear his story.
As Deric’s family navigates this painful journey, they are surrounded by a community that respects his life and is ready to support him. Memory of Deric Allen – A husband, father, warrior and dear friend – will be in the hearts of all of them who were lucky to know him.
His story serves as a call for more security, awareness and care on our streets so that no more life is lost in such heartbreaking circumstances. The battle of deeric may end, but his feeling and influence remains eternal.
