At the age of only 27, Eliza Green had already made a significant impact on the lives of the people around her. Eliza was a proud graduate of Elmwood-Murdock High School in the small, tight-witted village of Elmwood, located in the south-east of Lincoln. His time in high school was marked by sports, voluntary service and his active participation in many community programs. His reputation as a kind, hardworking and liberal young man followed him as he moved to Lincoln to carry forward college and career opportunities. Despite her move, Elijah maintained a strong relationship with her hometown, regularly returning to the family journey, the mentor to the local youth, and stayed with friends he had known for years.

In Lincoln, Eliza acted as an electrical technician, earning his colleagues for his strong work morality, professionalism and easy personality. He was often described as “reliable” and “thoughtful”, someone who can always be counted at the job and life. Eliza’s acceptable nature and real kindness made him a dear person at work and among friends. His colleagues recalled him as a quiet leader, who always used to put others first, whether it means to help a colleague with a difficult project or offer some kind of word when someone needed it most.

Outside of work, Eliza had a passion for cars, to spend time out of the University of Nebraska, and out of time. He was known for his weekend road trips and his love for fishing in local lakes, where he enjoyed resting with friends and family. The natural capacity of Elijah was welcoming everyone and feeling valuable that he was central for many farming friendship over many years. Whether it is sharing a laugh during the weekend or offering help at the time of need, Eliza’s presence was one who uplifted the people around her.

In response to its tragic passing, the Green family issued a statement expressing their heart break and praise for support from the community:

A close friend, Marcus Wright, talked about vigilance, reflecting the unique qualities of Eliza and saved from its passing.

“Eliza lived with a purpose. He loved hard work, she gave independently, and she never felt small. She had this calm strength that you just feel safe. Her absence hurts so deeply – it is difficult to imagine life without her.”

As the loss of Eliza affects people who knew her, local churches, civil groups and organizations have ralled to support the Green family. Community members have organized food trains, charity drives, and have set up a Gofundme campaign to help in the funeral expenses and provided the family to provide financial assistance to the family during this difficult time.
