HOUSTON – The search continues for the driver responsible for the tragic death of Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth Lewis, who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident while helping a stranded motorist last month. The FBI has now joined the Houston Police Department in the investigation and is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the identification and capture of the driver.
The fatal crash happened about 3:40 a.m. Saturday on I-10 near Eldridge Parkway in Houston. Deputy Lewis had proceeded to assist a motorist when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver fled the scene, seriously injuring Deputy Lewis. He was taken to hospital, but sadly he died a few days later.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office paid tribute to Deputy Lewis, calling him a true example of dedication and selflessness in law enforcement. “Deputy Lewis exemplifies the best of law enforcement. His selflessness, dedication and commitment to serving others reflect the core values of our office and the profession he proudly served,” the department said on social media.

The community, law enforcement and Deputy Lewis’s family are demanding justice for his untimely death, and finding the man who left him behind remains a top priority.
