Specialist Terry Fry’s name was released by the Indiana National Guard on Monday, sparking an outpouring of grief from people who knew and admired him. Frye enlisted in the Indiana National Guard in March 2020 and proudly answered the call to serve his country. His service earned him several commendations including the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon, reflecting his dedication, discipline and commitment towards the defense of his beloved nation.
But beyond his military accomplishments, Terry was much more. He was a devoted son, a loyal friend, a teammate, and a mentor. Those closest to him remember his quiet strength, reliability, and the genuine kindness he extended to everyone around him. His presence stabilized and brightened the lives of those he encountered. The loss caused by his absence is immeasurable and his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.

The incident that led to Terry’s death occurred when a driver named Goderdzhi Guzabidze, who was in the country illegally at the time, swerved his truck to avoid stopped traffic. While trying to avoid a collision, he lost control of the convoy’s Humvee carrying Terry and three other Guardsmen. The vehicle overturned, tragically taking Terry’s life, while other guardsmen were seriously injured.
While the investigation into the incident is still ongoing, it is clear that Terry’s sacrifice was made while serving his country with dedication and courage in the line of duty. His demise has sent a wave of grief across the community as people mourn the loss of a young man who exemplified bravery, loyalty and honour.
