RIVERTON, Utah – A 25-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound following a two-vehicle crash in Riverton Saturday evening. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, which occurred near the intersection of 13400 South and Mountain View Corridor.
Riverton Police responded to the scene of a crash after a report of a reckless driver who collided with another vehicle. According to witnesses, the driver, identified as a 25-year-old male, was seen driving the wrong way before hitting the rear of another vehicle. Then his vehicle left the road and stopped.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the man dead in his car, with a gunshot wound to the side of his head. The driver’s side window was also shattered by the bullet and a gun was found near the driver’s leg.
The other driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or the result of some other cause.
Although details about the incident are still limited, Riverton police said the investigation remains active. The road has been partially reopened, with only the left lane near the intersection still closed and traffic largely back to normal.
As police continue to gather information, local news outlets will provide updates on the situation as more details become available.
