MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A 57-year-old military veteran has been charged with murder in the shooting deaths of two women inside a home in Montgomery County on Monday afternoon. Stanley Earl Hardin has been accused of shooting his estranged wife and her mother, who were found dead inside a home on Shoreview Drive just east of Conroe.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Hardin drove his vehicle into the home around 2 a.m. and shot the two women inside. The wife called 911 before the crash and again just before Hardin entered the home, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff Wesley Doolittle revealed that Hardin and his wife were still married, but she had recently moved out of their home and was living with her mother at the time of the shooting. After the incident, Hardin fled the scene, but deputies were able to locate him at his home on Ivy Lane. Law enforcement set up a perimeter around the area in anticipation of a possible confrontation, but Hardin peacefully surrendered to authorities after speaking to a family member.
Doolittle confirmed that, as far as he is aware, Hardin has no prior criminal history. The investigation is ongoing, and officers are advising the public to avoid the area of Shoreview Drive as they continue their work at the scene.
This tragic shooting has shocked the community, and law enforcement continues to gather details on this incident. Hardin has been formally charged, and further updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
