Minnesota State Sen John Hoffman has been released with more than three weeks after being seriously injured in a politically motivated shooting attack. The shooting, resulting in fellow Democratic MP, state representative Melissa Hortman, died.
What happened
Senator Hoffman was shot nine times outside his residence in Champlin, Minnesota on 14 June 2025. Presenting as a police officer, Gunman Vance Boleter ambushed Hofman, his wife, Yett Hoffman and his daughter, Hope. Ywett was allegedly shot eight times, protecting her daughter from bullets. Both senator Hoffman and his wife were taken to the hospital before life -saving care.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Senator Hoffman is now cured. After spending several weeks in intensive care, he has been taken to a rehabilitation facility. His spokesperson, Base Elance, confirmed that Hoffman is expected to stay in rehabilitation for at least a few weeks, during which he would undergo many surgery. In a recently released picture, Hoffman is shown smiling and a thumb-up is given as soon as they get out of the ICU.
Sad loss
The attack, which also targeted the state representative. Melissa Hortman sadly caused her death. Hofman and her husband, Mark, were killed at her house in Brooklyn Park, exactly 90 minutes after Hoffman ambushed. His family’s dogs, Gilbert were also badly injured during the attack. The law enforcement later confirmed that the Bolter, still fierce, reached the Hortman’s house and shot the two before running away from the scene.
Investigation and purpose
The shooting has left the community again, in which the authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack. The police discovered an announcement in a fake police vehicle, which was used by Boleter during the shootout. The manifesto had a hit list with several names, including Hofman and Hortman, although investigators have not yet set full purpose for the attacks.
36 hours after the firing, Bolter was arrested in Sibli County and six federal allegations, along with four state charges for murder and attempt to murder.
