His favorite subjects included mathematics and science, and he had dreams of making a career in engineering or technology. The teachers described him as a respectable and curious learner, always ready to help a classmate and proud to ask for help when he needs it. His educational success only corresponds to the strength of his character.
Friends remember Carmello, who can make anyone laugh, even in the most difficult days. He was the kind of person who never let anyone sit alone on lunch, who remembered your birthday, even if you didn’t remember him, and those who saw people had a habit to listen and feel valuable. Their presence was magnetic, drawing in people of all backgrounds and personalities.
Above all, Carmello was a dedicated son, a loving brother and a valuable grandson, nephew and cousin. His family describes him as the heart of his home – dependent, affectionate, and full of life. He had a deep bond with his younger brothers and sisters, often tuitioned him, played the game, or simply had a protective elder brother whom he had accepted. The Tibus family is now navigating an unimaginable loss, and the outline of love to the community is a small solution of rest in these dark days.
In view of the passing of Carmello, a candlelight vigil was held at the North Farming Football Ground, where classmates, team partners and family gathered to honor his memory. Blenchers were filled with tear friends who shared stories, while dozens of candles were burnt at night – each flame was touched by Carmello to Earth in his small but meaningful time. His jersey, #14, were wrapped across the fence with hearty messages, flowers and photographs.
To support students and employees, North Farmington High School has been made available to counselors as they mourn, and the school has announced a plan to dedicate Carmello’s memory to the upcoming football season. A scholarship fund is also being organized in his name, aimed at supporting aspirational young athletes, which display the same passion and determination Carmello.
