With full hearts and severe reverence, Cloveice, the California community respects the life and memory of Papa ji, who died after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and complications from a stroke. His departure leaves a huge void in the lives of those who knew and loved him, especially his beloved wife, maternal uncle Mai, with whom he shared a remarkable journey of 56 years of love and devotion.
Papa ji was a man of integrity, flexibility and infinite heart. Living with disability as a Vietnam-era veteran, he lifted the weight with calm dignity, never allowed adversity to define him. His life was built on sacrifice and purpose – whether in the defense of his country, in support of his family, or in everyday acts of kindness that became his legacy. He was a husband, a friend, a role model and the cornerstone of strength.
Together, Papa ji and maternal uncle Mae built a house and a life contained in love, laughter and unbreakable companionship. Their bondage – according to time or tests – serves love as a guiding example of permanent love. As Mama Maa now learn to navigate life without her soul, she continues to respect the dreams shared by her, including one of her heart desires: to participate in the live taping of The view in New York City, a Dream Papa fully supported.
In tribute to his life, and in support, the family welcomes donations to help fulfill the wish of Mama Mae, a gesture that not only brings comfort in mourning, but also raises a love story that inspires. Every contribution is a tribute to Papa’s legacy – love, service, and dream life.
Although he is passed, Papa’s soul remains unwavering – in stories that she leaves behind, in others who are in strength, and in a dream that is still waiting for the smile of maternal uncle under the light of New York City.
