William Ingram, 51, has been sentenced to 30 to 64 years in prison for the brutal murder of his 82-year-old mother, Dolores Ingram, inside their shared condominium in Northampton Township. The crime, which occurred in June 2024, shocked the community and led to a lengthy investigation that revealed disturbing information about the circumstances surrounding Dolores’ death.

What happened:
Police found the body of Dolores Ingram on June 15, 2024, after requesting a welfare check at a Beacon Hill Drive condominium. Authorities found her body hidden under a huge pile of household items, including an overturned futon and a broken aquarium filled with dead reptiles. In addition to the gruesome scene, investigators uncovered six pounds of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and more than $53,000 in cash, leading authorities to conclude that the drugs were intended for distribution.

After the murder, William Ingram stole his mother’s car and fled to Washington, DC, where he was arrested after assaulting an officer and damaging a police vehicle. While in custody, Ingram confessed to the crime, prompting authorities to conduct a welfare check in Pennsylvania.

An autopsy revealed that Dolores Ingram died from blunt-force trauma, asphyxiation, and wounds. The crime also included abuse of a corpse, as the body was hidden and disturbed after the murder.

Punishment and Family Effects:
In December 2025, Ingram pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, aggravated assault, abuse of a corpse and several other charges. During sentencing on February 18, 2026, Deputy District Attorney Monica Farber argued for a sentence in the severe range, requesting that the charges be served consecutively rather than concurrently. Judge Stephen A. Corr agreed, highlighting the seriousness of Ingram’s actions and the extreme nature of the crime.

Dolores Ingram’s family members expressed their grief during the sentencing. One daughter, speaking of the profound loss, described her mother as “a kind, generous person who was always there for others.” He also shared the horrific pain of imagining his mother’s final moments. Another daughter described having nightmares about the tragedy.

Farber addressed the brutality of the situation, emphasizing how Dolores Ingram had dedicated much of her life to caring for her son, but was repaid with violence.

This sentence provides a measure of justice to Dolores Ingram’s family, but the pain of losing her in such a cruel and senseless way remains a heavy burden. As William Ingram begins his lengthy prison sentence, the community and his family must grapple with the heartbreak caused by his actions.
