Randel is known for his infectious energy, immense enthusiasm and remarkable athleticism. His death has sent shockwaves through the Wakeboarding community and left people who not only mourn the loss of a talented athlete, but also a nutritious friend, husband and mentor.
Born in Clearwater, Florida in 1987, Randel was introduced in a water game at an early age. Growing near the sea, he was naturally ready for wakeboarding when he was just 12 years old. The correct mixture of adrenaline, athleticism and freedom game quickly shut it off. What started as a hobby soon turned into a lifetime passion. Until his adolescence, Randel was already making waves on local lakes and rivers, earning a reputation for his raw talent and determination.
His skill was not taken care of, and soon Randel found himself competing at the national level. In the last decade, he earned praise in major competitions such as the US Wakeboard Open and The Pro Wake Tour, where his courageous spin, creative maneuver and smooth landing left the audience in amazement. But this was not just his technical skill that made him a standout in the Wakeboarding community – this was his spontaneous ability to inspire and elevate others.
Randel was not just a competitor; He was an ambassador for the game. He dedicated most of his time to mention young Wakeboardrs, helping him to correct his techniques, and shared his knowledge through coaching and instructional videos. His advocacy for wakeboarding expanded beyond the competitive sector, as he tried tirelessly to make the game more accessible to unqualified communities. His influence was not only felt in his achievements, but in countless life he touched through his encouragement and selflessness.
Sadly, Randel’s life was reduced at the age of 37. While his passing leaves many unanswered questions, people who knew Randel Best, they are choosing to focus on the man who he was – a generous, kind and passionate person who brought happiness and inspiration to everyone.
Randel leaves his loving wife, Emma, her two-year-old daughter Lily, her parents David and Christine Harris and her sister Morgan. He has also survived from friends, teammates, and a huge network of fans who have broken heart from the loss of such a dynamic personality. For a long time friend and team partner, Jake Weston shared that “one of Randy’s greatest happiness was watching his first trick – he would be as excited as he did himself.” This feeling of Camadari and his calm courage defined his heritage in both Wakeboarding and Life.
A Memorial event in honor of Randel is later planned in Clearwater Bay for this heat, where a wakeboarding tribute session will be held to celebrate his life. The Harris family has encouraged those wishing to pay tribute to Randel to consider donating the Randel Harris Memorial Fund.
