A heroic security guard tragically died while attempting to break up a violent dispute at a Georgia bar on the morning of March 7, leaving his community in mourning. Jordan Alexander Jones, 28, a dedicated security officer from Lawrenceville, was shot while trying to break up a fight between a man and a woman at the Saddle Bar in Acworth, Georgia.
Jones was working the night shift when he stepped in to separate two men involved in the confrontation. According to the Acworth Police Department (APD), during the altercation, the suspect, later identified as Daniel D. Von Parsons, 25, of Douglasville, pulled out a gun and shot Jones.
After receiving the call, officers arrived at the scene at 2:42 a.m. and found Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate assistance from police officers and emergency responders, Jones was later pronounced dead at Kennestone Hospital.
Parsons, who fled the scene on foot, was immediately apprehended and taken into custody without incident. He faces charges including aggravated assault, aggravated battery and first-degree murder. The investigation into the shooting continues, and Parsons is currently being held without bail at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
Jones’ family, especially his uncle, Edward Jones, remember him as someone who always stepped in when something went wrong. Edward Jones said, “He wouldn’t just let it happen, watching others while he taped it.” “He just grabbed it, gave it an old bear hug, and put it aside.”
The Saddle Bar, where Jones was employed, released a heartfelt statement, praising the victim’s bravery. “He courageously intervened to protect others and his selflessness will not be forgotten,” Barr wrote on social media, offering condolences to his family and community.
The bar also announced that it would be closed for the weekend in honor of the tragic incident and would make a donation to assist Jones’ family. The statement concluded, “Our deepest prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
In the wake of the loss, community members have come together to honor Jones’ memory, reflecting his courage and commitment to keeping others safe. As authorities continue their investigation, the community is mourning the loss of a man who was always ready to help, regardless of the risk.
