Shasta County, Ca-Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has announced arrest on allegations of many hooliganism related to the possession and distribution of 23-year-old Ethan Coal Mercer, a military resident, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), as well as alleged inappropriate communication with a minor.
The arrest comes after a coordinated investigation under the leadership of SCSO’s leading crime unit, which was triggered by a referral from the Internet Crime Against Children (ICAC) task force-a national initiative that supports local and state agencies in investigating and prosecution of individuals who exploit children through internet-competent crimes.
Origin of case
According to SCSO, the investigation began when the ICAC task force detected the CSAM, which was uploaded from an IP address in Milville, a small rural community in East Shasta County.
