Shia LaBeouf was arrested once again in New Orleans on February 28, facing additional misdemeanor charges of simple battery in connection with his previous arrest on February 17. The 39-year-old actor, who was involved in an altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations, reportedly surrendered to authorities and posted a $5,000 bond for his release.
According to police reports, LaBeouf’s arrest stems from an incident at the Royal Street I&R Bar, where he allegedly attacked a man in the face, causing a disfigurement. The incident also involved LaBeouf using abusive language, including repeated use of an offensive slur. LaBeouf was initially charged with two misdemeanor charges and ordered to post a $100,000 bond as a condition of his release.
In addition to the battery charges, LaBeouf was required to enroll in substance abuse treatment, undergo drug testing, and meet other conditions for his release. Despite these conditions, LaBeouf recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the idea of rehab during an interview with Andrew Callaghan on Channel 5, where he said, “My behavior was not good. I have to deal with that… but I don’t think rehab is the answer for me.”
While LaBeouf acknowledged the wrongness of his actions, he continued to oppose the idea of rehabilitation, emphasizing that he did not believe the answers he sought could be found in that setting.
LaBeouf’s legal team and the New Orleans Police Department have not yet responded to requests for further comment. This latest arrest marks a continuing string of legal troubles for the actor, who has faced various charges in the past.
