Around 4:14 pm, Springfield Police Department officials were sent to a residence in 2000 blocks of West Webster Street after a report of shooting. When the officials arrived at the scene-2034 W. Webster Street were identified as the 19-year-old Lavonte Bennett found him suffering from a gun bullet. Despite emergency efforts, Bennett was declared dead on the spot.
Lavantte Bennett, a resident of Springfield, has now become the latest victims this year in the increasing number of violent incidents in the city. His family has been informed, and he is now struggling with the devastating news of lost life very soon.
The police have not yet made any arrests regarding the shooting, and the identity of the suspect – or the suspects have not been issued. At this time, investigators believe that it was a separate event and there is no immediate threat to the public.
