St. Thomas Aquinas High School accident today – On the evening of Friday, June 20, 2025, a tragic and destructive multi-marriage accident occurred in Pompean Beach, resulting in a 16-year-old student of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and several other students were hospitalized. The Broward Sheriff Office (BSO) confirmed that there was a deadly collision sometime before 8:00 pm in 200 blocks of West Coppse Road. The BSO’s traffic homoid unit has since initiated an ongoing investigation, with initial reports pointing to several factors, which contribute to a deadly event.

According to preliminary findings, the accident included the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250, run by a 16-year-old student, traveling westwards on West Copping Road. As the vehicle reached the intersection with a holiday bullet with the driver of an 82 -year -old Toyota Sienna, an 82 -year -old man, tried to make a left twist directly directly on the holiday bolevard on the route to Mercedes. As a result of the collision, Mercedes overturned on its roof, and the vehicle split on the road across the road, where it was killed by the 2015 Lexus RX 350. The debris traveled to 2021 Toyota Rao 4 nearby with an initial effect.

The BSO depot was among the first respondents at the scene and started life-saving efforts before the arrival of Pompean Beach Fire Rescue. Sadly, the 16 -year -old driver of Mercedes was later declared dead in the hospital. Four additional passengers, all students aged 17 were inside Mercedes at the time of the accident. Living passengers-three male students and a female-to-female injuries were taken to local hospitals, although no injuries were described as fatal. Their identity has not been released due to security under the law of Marxi, which protects the privacy of the victims and individuals involved in the criminal investigation.

The passenger with the deceased driver was all students at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, a famous Catholic institute in Fort Lauderdel. The school has expressed deep grief over the incident. A statement issued by the administration confirmed that grief counselors would be available to students and employees as they face tragedy. “This is an unimaginable disadvantage to the Aquinas family,” said a administrator. “Our hearts are with the family of the student who passed and all the students who were injured. We are praying for their treatment – physically and emotionally.”

While the investigation is on, BSO detectives have indicated that excessive speed may have played a role in the accident. The investigators, documenting the scene, remained closed for several hours and cleaned the debris. Underlining the severity of the accident, the next morning the burn marks and the scattering debris were visible on the pavement on the next morning.

Till Saturday evening, the identity of the deceased student has not been released publicly, but family members are expected to issue a statement in the coming days. Meanwhile, friends, classmates and community members have moved to social media to condole, share memories and express their support for the affected families.

Both the drivers of Toyota Sienna and Toyota Rav4 were untoward in the accident, and they remained in the scene, cooperating with law enforcement. The BSO is urging someone who has seen the accident or who has more information to come forward.

This tragic incident has left the St. Thomas Aquinas High School community in mourning, struggling to come with many students and employees with untimely losses. The investigation of the exact causes of the accident remains active, as the authorities work to determine how such a heartbreaking incident came to light.
