At approximately 11:31 a.m. Thursday, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a serious crash on State Road 15, about a quarter mile north of Waukee Road. Upon arrival, law enforcement and first responders discovered a catastrophic head-on collision between two vehicles: a Chevy Silverado, driven by 68-year-old Dale Wert, and a Hyundai Accent, driven by 19-year-old Sarah Mischke.
Although the exact cause of the accident is under investigation, officials are working diligently to determine the factors that led to the collision. Initial reports indicate that the accident was serious, with both drivers suffering serious injuries.
